RETAILERS' CHOICE

We asked four local businesses what their most popular or favorite items are.
Here's what they said.

Bring on the Heat
Dual-Kherr by Clima Star is a heater unit that fits to the wall. But that's not all. Available at Grandview Winnelson, this artsy unit can be used not only as a towel warmer but a humidifier when you add a small piece. With a remote control in your hand, you can program it to go on and off whenever you want. It's part of the Energy Star program, too. 816.765.2555 or www.grandviewwinnelson.com

Liquid Fusion
Offering the latest in water filtration technology, Ferguson Enterprises showcases the new ROHL Integrated Faucet Filtration Solution with Triflow Technology. From contemporary to traditional design styles, it looks like a normal faucet but internally has a fully integrated water filtration system for fresh, clean water straight from the tap. 816.252.0060 or www.ferguson.com

Water Savvy
The Eco Drake Toilet, found at Dorfman Plumbing Supply, may look like a regular toilet, but it's what's inside that really counts. “It's a dramatically effective toilet for just 1.28 gallons of water,” says store owner Charlie Dorfman. Made by TOTO, this commode is upgraded with a SoftClose seat or Washlet and comes with a flush valve that is 125 percent larger than conventional ones. You'll save 20 percent more water than with a 1.6-gallon toilet and 63 percent more water than a 3.5-gallon toilet. 816.842.4656 or www.dorfmanplumbing.com

PATENT-PENDING

If you're remodeling an existing bathroom or designing a new one, Kitchen Design Gallery's owner, Shawn McCune, CKD, may get you rethinking, or adding to, your plans with some ingenious patent-pending ideas he developed a couple years ago and has been installing in every master bath since. “They are necessary entities,” Shawn says. “Most of my ideas come from needs. I identify an issue and use the combination of logic and creativity to produce innovative solutions.”

Wall Caddy
This stainless steel, five-shelf wall caddy fits between the studs in any shower. Its 30-degree sloped bottom and drainable shelving allows for easy cleaning and no residue build up. The unit also can be customized and installed into an existing shower without changing the existing tile.

Flush Floor Drain
Shawn's ADA-friendly compliant floor drain eliminates the need to have a curb or ledge/step. As a secondary drain, it's installed on the outside of the shower door to catch excess water and prevents one from tripping on a ledge when leaving the shower.

One last product he's recently been installing in new construction projects is an eye bolt for hanging a harness or strap. Clearly thinking of universal design, it's a nonintrusive, preventative measure in case a homeowner may someday need showering assistance. It's worry-free, slip-free showering when you need it.
