Mission Farms, combining the tradition of upscale residential living with charming boutiques and restaurants, will this year join the long list of prestigious communities that have participated in the annual JCYM Home for the Holidays Tour. Three unique custom homes in Mission Farms, which rests on the historic site of the original Saddle and Sirloin Club, and two homes in Hallbrook Farms will be lavishly decorated for the holidays and open to the public. The tour is Wednesday, November 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and proceeds benefit area charities.

The JCYM tour is a tradition and labor of love for the area designers and decorators who donate their talents and time to dress the homes in holiday finery. “Their generosity, along with those attending the tour, helps benefit so many in need in our community,” says Kathy Euston, publicity chairperson.

Tickets for the tour are available through November 14 at all Hen House supermarkets in Johnson County and all Hy-Vee Food and Drug stores in Johnson County and Lee’s Summit. Other ticket outlets include Inside Outlet, Brown Wrappings and Crowley Furniture. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door on the day of the tour.

Adding to the festivities will be a two-day holiday boutique Tuesday, November 13, and Wednesday, November 14, at Blue Hills Country Club, 777 Burning Tree Drive, Kansas City. The boutique features many of the area’s best specialty retailers and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A tour ticket is not required for admittance to the boutique.

Renowned author and acclaimed cook Jasper J. Mirabile, Jr., of Jasper’s Restaurant will share original recipes at a cooking demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, at the boutique. Jasper also will sign copies of his cookbook, The Jasper’s Cookbook, featuring authentic Italian cuisine.

Proceeds from the tour benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau; Friends of Johnson County Nursing Center; Safehome, Inc.; Friends of Shawnee Indian Mission; TLC for Children and Families, Inc.; Headstart of Shawnee Mission  Inc.; Community Disability Network; and the JCYM Charitable Gift Fund.

During the past 15 years, the JCYM Home for the Holidays Tour has raised more than $1,000,000 for various agencies in the Johnson County community since its inception in 1961.

JCYM, a philanthropic organization with more than 250 members, fosters charitable, literary and educational activities in the county. This year the organization is celebrating its 46th anniversary. For more information, visit jcym.net.
