You’ve made the trip for the annual corporate meeting. At the end of the day, you’ve attended the meetings and given your all for the company — now it’s time to relax.
The cool, sparkling blue water of the swimming pool relaxes you as the setting summer sun gives you that warm, this-is-a-good-place-to-be feeling. The horizon is studded with luxury yachts cruising by the marina. Need a drink? No need to grab a towel, simply float on over to the swim-up bar.
It’s a scene from a vacation paradise, but don’t look for palm trees or think you need to check flight times. The Resort & Yacht Club at Toad Cove has created a unique, luxury destination for corporate meetings and events at Missouri’s own Lake of the Ozarks.
According to director of sales Lagina Fitzpatrick, The Resort at Toad Cove stands out for two reasons: one, its luxury, boutique hotel style, and two, its age. The Resort at Toad Cove will soon celebrate its one-year anniversary.
“The newness of the property is definitely a draw for corporate meeting planners,” Lagina says. “The Resort & Yacht Club is the first new full-service resort at the Lake in more than 10 years, and no other property in the Midwest offers the surroundings or the amenities our complex provides.”
The fresh, virgin space found in the 116 luxury studios and suites may turn heads, but president and developer Merlyn Vandervort didn’t stop there when he decided to cater to the corporate meeting market. As a condo-hotel, the property goes beyond the basics to appeal to corporate meeting planners looking for a top-of-the-line destination for their groups.
More Than You Might Expect
For groups that have never stayed at a condominium hotel before, the property’s accommodations may offer more than you’d expect.
“It’s a suite — a lot more luxurious than a normal hotel room,” says Merlyn, who also owns the next-door Horny Toad Entertainment Complex. He points out that condominium hotels like his often include such room features as fireplaces, kitchens, washers and dryers, and more.
The resort’s suites include flat-screen televisions, king-size beds with high-quality linens, kitchenettes/wet bar and leather sofas, plus other details that add up to a four-star stay. Push-button- control drapes open up to the stunning lake view (the panoramic property features six floors with lake views on either side of the building). Grand suites feature Jacuzzi tubs, plus 8-foot, ceramic tile showers with dual- shower heads. Granite tops dressers and desks in each suite, and crown molding wraps the ceilings in the living rooms and bedrooms.
Catering to the Corporate Set
Offering 10,000 square feet of meeting space, The Resort at Toad Cove caters to the corporate market, hosting an average group size of 35 to 50 guests. Group guests enjoy state-of-the-art technology, including a 48-seat movie and PowerPoint-ready presentation theater, equipped with surround sound and outfitted with laptop-friendly, comfortable theater seating.
The resort’s other meeting spaces include an executive conference room and five classrooms with capacity for 20 to 200, with a maximum theater capacity of 48. Perfect for wedding parties and gala dinners, the 6,600-square-foot ballroom accommodates up to 500 for banquet seating, or the room may be partitioned into three smaller spaces.
The ballroom exits out to the patio for a breath of fresh air, and groups may also opt for an unenclosed venue within the resort, such as a reception/breakout room with outdoor seating. Stunning lake views make a memorable backdrop for corporate and private receptions.
Property Perks
As a boutique property, concierge service ensures The Resort at Toad Cove experience is one of ease and satisfaction. The property’s concierge takes care of tee times at any of the area’s 14 golf courses, dinner reservations and more. Staff members also deliver nightly turndown service and valet service.
The resort features an array of activities, all conveniently located within the boutique building. Capitalizing on its location directly on the lakeshore, the heated pool features a swim-up bar, waterfall and two whirlpools, plus a thermal-heated floor. Part of the pool-yard patio, an outdoor fireplace warms the scene and extends the area’s use beyond the summer months. In addition, a heated sand volleyball court is available for use year-round and creates a great option for a group luau and fun, team-building exercises.
The resort’s Spa 54 offers full salon services, massages, nail services, facials and body treatments. Treatment rooms with lake views create a relaxing and inspiring setting. Guests enjoy Aveda treatments like the Caribbean Therapy Body Treatment that uses healing touch, Caribbean plant ingredients and a warm seaweed body masque to detoxify, create inner calm and renew body and senses.
Guests will find plenty of shopping options, not just at the nearby Osage Beach Premium Outlets but also within the resort. Toadcove Apparel carries upscale lines, such as Tommy Bahama, Lacoste and Christine Phillipe.
